Before downloading and playing the game, you should keep in mind that the game is still in alpha. That means that you should be expecting crashes, hangs, slowdowns, crappy art and dialogs, things to bug out and generally to have a bad time. We make these downloads available so we can gather feedback that will help us complete the game eventually. Check the FAQ on how to contact us for feedback or suggestions!

Frequently Asked Questions

What engine is Spirates using?

For spirates we created our own engine from the ground up using SDL as a basis, OpenGL for graphics, LUA as a scripting language, tinyXML for parsing XML description files and some other libraries for secondary tasks. We don't have a GUI for it and everything is done by text editing. The command line (accessed with `) is quite powerful

Where can I contact you to report a bug or make a feature request or say whatever?

Drop an email to lefteris (at) chpetrou.net .

Can I mod your game?

Yes you can! But please, if you post your modded version of the game online, please link to this page.

Why does your art suck and dialogs are cringeworthy?

The game assets are the epitome of programmer art. Also, many of them are stubs and someday will hopefully suck less.

Can I become a cyborg, a zombie or communicate with cat people?

Yes you can, but it is up to you to find out how to do any of these things.
